Day 1
Oslo, Norway
The capital of Norway, Oslo is a pleasant and city with interesting architecture, numerous cultural attractions and easy acces to nature. We explored the city on a summer day.
Akershus Fortress, Norway
We started our day in Oslo with a visit at Akershus Fortress. Situated on the harbor of Oslo, Akershus Fortress, built in 13th century, is now a museum complex containing 2 interesting military museums. There are also events taking place here.
Rådhuset, Norway
After the history lesson at Akershus Fortress, we walked towards the harbor. On the way we stopped first to have a look at the City Hall. The adminitrative building has some nice architecture and it also houses some nice architecture and art collection.
Oslo Opera House, Norway
We took a walk along Oslo's harbour admirig the beautiful scape till we arrived at The Opera House. It's a fantastic contemporary building with large window walls watching towards the waterside. In front of it, there's a nice space where people gather and sit to admire the views over Oslofjord.
Holmenkollen Ski Museum, Norway
We took the metro from the harbor to Holmenkollen as we were about to visit a cool museum. We got out of the metro and hiked uphill for around ten minutes to Holmenkollen Ski Museum where a most amazing view over the city opened in front of us. The high-tech museum offers a view on the history of sport. There's also a cool ski simulator there.
The Vigeland Park, Norway
After visiting the museum, we took a walk in Vigeland Park. It's one of Oslo's popular attractions. The park is a beautiful area with some 200 scluptures in bronze, granite and iron gathered in the middle of the park.
Viking Ship Museum, Norway
The museum displays the world’s 3 best preserved wooden Viking ships built in the 9th century plus artifacts recovered from burial chambers.
The Norwegian Museum of Cultural History, Norway
This is one nice open air museum with more than 150 traditional houses from different regions in Norway.
Oslo Opera House, Norway
In the evening we returned to Oslo Opera area and sat at a terrace by the water. We had some drinks while watching this nice scape towards the harbor.
