Day 1

Idra, Greece

Hydra is a small beautiful Greek island situated on the Saronic Gulf. We took the ferry from Port of Piraeus, Athens and arrived in Hydra in about an hour.

Λιμάνι Ύδρας, Greece

We arrived in Hydra Port, which is super nice, with a waterfront promenade. We stopped for a coffee to enjoy the view. We admired the landscape of the island with houses laayering on the hill and overlooking the sea and the port.

Hydra, Greece

We checked in and went out to explore the town. It's a very beautiful place with narrow streets and white houses. We took the time to observe live in the town.

Hydronetta Beach, Greece

We arrived in the port and then decided it was time to explore the beaches aroud. We walked to Hydronetta Beach. It's a rocky beach, but very beautiful. People lay their towles on rocks. It's a nice place to do water jumps as well.

Avlaki Beach, Greece

Then moved to Avlaki Beach. It was our favourite beach around the area. It's a small pebbled beach that you reach walking down a path surrounded by green trees that provide some shade. It is better to have some beach shoes as the pebbles could be a bit annoying while walking

Islands Regional Unit, Greece

We then walked on the coast path admiring the lanscape above the sea.

To Pefkaki, Greece

We stopped at To Pefkaki taverna with amazing sea views and absolutely delicious fish dishes . We loved this family run taverna, so cosy and nice.

Αλιευτικό Καταφύγιο Καμινίου, Greece

We walked towards the small Kamini port and gazed at the colourful fishing boats and the townscape.

Vlychos Plakes Beach, Greece

We continued the walk on the coast till we reached Vlychos Beach. Vlychos is a wide sandy beachwith crystal clear waters. We spent the rest of the day there.

Λιμάνι Ύδρας, Greece

We returned to Hydra port just in time to witness a gorgeous sunset with spectacular redich light all around. We spent the night in Hydra town.

Day 2

Prophet Elias Monastery, Greece

The next day we started the day by climbing to Prophet Elias Monastery. It took us around to hours to get there, but we enjoyed spectacular views over the sea and the nearby Peloponnese coast on the way. Prophet Elias is a beautiful monastery established in 1813 by monks coming from Mount Athos.

Historical Archive - Museum of Hydra, Greece

An interesting museum displaying manuscripts from the Greek Revolution, ancient navigation maps, and old books. The museum building is a nice renovated sristocratic mansion.

The Cool Mule, Greece

After so much visiting and street walking we stopped for a good homemade ice cream at The Cool Mule.

We enjoyed some more views from the port and a good coffee at Skipper Cafe before heading to the beach.

Islands Regional Unit, Greece

We enjoyed some more sun and swimming and relaxing on the beach.

The Pirate Bar, Greece

We ended our stay in Hydra with some drinks at The Pirate Bar, one of the most traditional places on the island. It seems it's also a favourite place of famous singer Leonard Cohen.
