One Week in Maramures Region, Romania

Arrived in Cluj, an important city of Romania. It was the cultural capital of Europe some years back. Visited around the city.

Rented a car and headed to Maramures county in north of Romania. First stop, Baia Mare city. Walked around the city center.

Headed to Breb village, one of the remaining authentic Maramures village. It has nice wooden architecture of houses and gates. It's a nice circuit you can go walking on in the village that takes by the most iconic places and houses in the village.

Today was hiking day. Went to Creasta Cocosului, which means Rooster's Crest. You can see it from the village as well.

Visited Merry Cemetery in Sapanta Village - a "funny" graveyard called "merry" for its colorful, hand-painted crosses and the "lyrics" on the crosses.

Visited Memorial to the Victims of Communism and of the Resistance in Sighetu Marmaţiei.

Drove to Vișeu de Sus.

Took a ride on a steam train, called Mocănița, it runs super slowly, you can admire the beautiful mountainous area.

Visited an old wooden monastery, Bârsana

and a touristic family farm in Petrova village

Back to beautiful Breb village with its green hills and hey smell and stacks for the last time.
