Belgrade, Serbia
We spent a weekend in Belgrade, Serbia's capital. It's a beautiful city with fascinating sites and cool atmosphere.
Kneza Mihaila, Serbia
Kneza Mihaila is the pedestrian street of Belgrade’s historic center, filled with many shops and cafes and art nouveau buildings.
Belgrade Fortress, Serbia
We walked to beautiful Belgrade Fortress sitting on top of a hill and overlooking the Danube and Sava Rivers. We would come back here in the evening because it's a great spot to watch the sun setting over that spectacular landscape.
Kalemegdan, Serbia
We took a walk in Kalemegdan Park that surrounds the fortress. It's a large green space with beautiful alleys and benches by the river.
Holy Archangel Michael Orthodox Church, Serbia
We visited St Michael’s Cathedral, the orthodox church dating from around 1840. You can spot its golden tower from many parts of the city.
Konak kneginje Ljubice, Serbia
The palace was built in 1830 as a residence for Prince Milos. Now it's a museum displaying interiors of the period, with an interesting mix of Ottoman and Serbian influences from the time.
Skadarlija, Serbia
Skadarlija is Belgrade's most popular neighbourhood. It's a pedestrian area with nice cobblestone streets and a bohemian feel. The area focuses on Skadarska Street and just a few side streets.
Konzulat Waterfront, Serbia
After visiting the fortress at sunset, we came at the waterfront area with bars and boats for a drink. It's an area that comes alive in the evening and at night.
Day 2
Republic Square, Serbia
We started the second day with Republic Square. It's one of the city's main squares located just in the center and surrounded both by elegant historic buildings and socialist era ones.
Zeleni Venac, Serbia
After taking a few steps on the city streets, we went to Zeleni Vanac farmers market. There are grocers selling fruit and vegetables and other local goods. We bought some excellent Balkan pastries from there.
St. Mark Orthodox Church, Serbia
We visited Church of Saint Mark, a large Neo Byzantine church. Inside there are nice frescoes and icons.
Zemun, Serbia
After visiting the city center a lot, we crossed Sava River to visit some other parts of the city. Zemun was town of its own, but it was incorporated into Belgrade when Novi Beograd neighbourhood, the new side of the city, went through development. It's a nice area where where you can observe daily city life of locals.
Zemunski Kej, Serbia
We took a walk in Zemunski Kej, a nice promenade along the Danube, a nice popular place in Zemun.
