Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina
Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina's capital city, is a beautiful and diverse town with a mixture of Ottoman, Austro-Hungarian and Yugoslav influences due to its tumultous past and different foreign rules. It had its hard times over the time, but now it's a safe place and full of charm.
Mrvica Old Town, Bosnia and Herzegovina
Sarajevo Old Town is a small picturesque center with charming cobblestone streets filled with nice cafes and restaurants, good looking Ottoman style buildings and bazaar shops also reminding of Turkey.
Gazi Husrev-beg Mosque, Bosnia and Herzegovina
We visited Gazi Husrev-beg Mosque, which is the biggest mosque in Bosnia Herzegovina and the place for Islamic worship.
Buregdžinica Bosna, Bosnia and Herzegovina
We had delicious salted pies with different fillings at Burekdžinica Bosna
Baščaršija, Bosnia and Herzegovina
We visited Baščaršija market, a Turkish bazaar, and bought some nice authentic souvenirs from there.
Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina
We then took a long walk along Miljacka River with beautiful views over the city and the buildings lined along the riverside.
Park Mejdan, Bosnia and Herzegovina
And arrived at Mejdan Park, a beautiful place in the heart of the old town, we took a stroll in the park and then stopped to rest for a while.
Latin Bridge, Bosnia and Herzegovina
We crossed the Latin Bridge, which is very close to Park Mejdan. It's an Ottoman era stone bridge over Miljacka River.
Archduke Ferdinand Memorial, Bosnia and Herzegovina
We stopped at Archduke Ferdinand Memorial, the site of Archduke Franz Ferdinand's 1914 assassination.
Sarajevo City Hall, Bosnia and Herzegovina
We visited Sarajevo City Hall, built during the Austro-Hungarian rule in 1891. The building was renovated some years ago.
Željo 3, Bosnia and Herzegovina
We tried Bosnian food at Željo and we really liked it.
Yellow Bastion, Bosnia and Herzegovina
We ended the day with a sunset from Žuta Tabija or the Yellow Fortress. We had to climb a bit to get there, but it's not very tough. We also visited the cemetery of young victims of the war on our way to the fortress
