Skopje in One Day
Day 1
Skopje, North Macedonia
We visited Skopje, North Macedonia's capital for one day. It's a bautiful city with a nice mixture of tradition and unusual modern elements.
Macedonia Square, North Macedonia
We started the day right in the center of the city, in Macedonia Square. It's a nice big round square with people going by in all directions at all times. It is the biggest square in North Macedonia that crosses Vardar River.
Stone Bridge, North Macedonia
We then took a walk along the waterfront of the Vardar River till we reached the Stone Bridge. It's a stone arched bridge built in 15th century and a symbol of the Skopje.
Old Bazaar, North Macedonia
We crossed the bridge and entered the historic Old Bazaar, where the Ottoman heritage is the most present nowadays. The Old Bazaar stretches along a long pedestrian street and several side ones and is full of shops and boutiques selling anything from souvenirs to local products.
Club "Kapan An" Macedonia, North Macedonia
We paid a visit to Kapan Han, the historic tavern dating from the 15th century.
Kale fortress, North Macedonia
Then we moved on with the old Kale Fortress, built in 6th century. We visited the place and walked along the fortified walls overlooking the town and the Old Bazaar. It's a really nice place for a walk.
Archaeological Museum of the Republic of Macedonia, North Macedonia
We then paid a visit to the city’s Archaeological Museum along the River Vardar. The museum has a vast collection of archeological relics covering North Macedonia's history from ancient times to present.
Memorial House Mother Teresa, North Macedonia
As the very well known saint Mother Teresa was born in Skopje, the city is honouring her and her legacy with this museum dedicated to the Catholic nun.
