Weekend in Berlin
Day 1
Berlin, Germany
Modern Berlin is one of the most popular cities to visit in Europe. It's a historic city, full of culture and, in modern times, has become very cosmopolitan. Here's how my city break in Berlin looked like!
Checkpoint Charlie, Germany
In my first day in the city I visited some major attractions. I started with Checkpoint Charlie, which was one of the most well-known border crossings between East and West Germany. It's now a symbol of the once divided city and it's one of the most visited spots of Berlin.
East Side Gallery, Germany
East Side Gallery are remains of Berlin Wall, now covered in beautiful graffiti. You can walk along the pretty long wall and admire the meaningful graffiti.
Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe, Germany
I also checked Berlin Holocaust Memorial, a memorial to the victims of the Holocaust. It's a large square which small slopes and many concrete slabs symbolizing the lost lives.
Brandenburg Gate, Germany
The huge Brandenburg Gate is a landmark of Berlin and has become a European symbol of unity and peace.
Tiergarten, Germany
After my long walk along Berlin's history, I ended up in Tiergarten, one of the most beautiful urban parks I've been to. Originally, a hunting ground, it's now a very big park with meadows and alleys and lakes and shadows where you can walk or have a picnic.
Day 2
Ebertbrücke, Germany
I started my second day in Berlin with a walk along the River Spree. I walked along the banks of the river admiring the scenery along the way. Spree Riverfront is a nice area, where local use to gather on weekends, sitting on the green area by the river.
Museum Island, Germany
Also on the River Spree, Museum Island is a gather of many Berlin museums and attractions. You can take a full day only to check a few of them, like Old Museum, New Museum, Bode Museum, the Old National Gallery. It's also a place where youngsters come and meet and spend time.
Kreuzberg, Germany
I decided I had enough of history and main attractions for this short visit to Berlin and just wanted to feel the atmosphere of a hip district of Berlin. Kreuzberg is a hip corner of Berlin with street art, graffiti, and nice cafes and the coolest people around.
Markthalle Neun, Germany
Finally, I paid a visit to Markthalle Neun, a food market with a fine variety of international food, also shops and a cool place for some cultural events.
