Sunny Day in Edinburgh

We visited the beautiful coastal city of Edinburgh on a lovely summer day. Dispite that fact that it's a large city, its most important sights are pretty close one to another.

We started the day with a nice walk in Holyrood Park. It's an amazing park on a hill with beautiful large green areas and some wonderful panoramic views of the city and the seaside from there.

We then visited Palace of Holyroodhouse, the 16th century palace of the Stuarts, with tours of royal reception rooms, antiques and relics.

The Royal Mile is the area between Palace of Holyroodhouse and Edinburgh Castle, in the city Old Center with nice pubs, shops, restaurants, and historic buildings.

We paid a visit to Museum of Edinburgh. The Museum focuses on the city’s origins, legends, and history. It's free to visit and also has an area for children, in case you are travelling with children.

We enjoyed a pretty long walk in Princes Street Gardens, this vast green area separating the New Town from the Old Town. The gardens are filled with magnificent floral displays, plenty of statues and monuments, as well as large areas for picnic and relaxation and some fun areas.

We bought something to eat from Miros Cantina Mexicana and stopped in the park to enjoy the food with a great view.

Finally, we arrived at the most recongnizable landmark of the city, Edinburgh Castle. The castle, situated on top of Castle Rock is an impressive fortress built in 11th century. Inside the castle, there are museums like National War Museum, the Royal Palace and St Margaret’s Chapel, which is the oldest chapel in Scotland. We spent most of the afternoon at the castle.

We ended the day with a visit at Cabaret Voltaire, a popular live music venue.
