One Day in Portofino, Italy

Portofino is a former fishing village, now transformed into an exclusive resort by the Liguraina Sea, south of Genoa. Most people arrive here from Genoa, this is exactly what we also did to visit the beautiful town.

We explored the streets of picturesque Portofino starting from "Piazzetta", the central square of the town. We admired its old and colorful houses overlooking the sea.

We visited San Martino Church, right in the main square. It's the main church in Portofino, with beautiful paintings at the interior.

We then visited Castle Brown located high above the harbour of Portofino. It's an ancient military fortress built in the 15th century that used to protect the town from pirates. There are some magnificent views over the bay and the sea from there.

We then took a hike to the ancient Portofino Lighthouse. It's not a difficult climb and the views from there are absolutely fantastic.

We returned to the main square, bought an ice cream and sat on a bench enjoying the icecream and "hunting" celebrities. Portofino is pretty popular among the celebrities.

For the last part of the day, we simply relaxed at the beach. Paraggi Beach is the most popular beach in Portofino. It is a sandy beach with beautiful green waters.
