Gdańsk, Poland

Gdansk is a beautiful Polish city by the coast of Baltic Sea. It used to be a free city, a city-state, like Vatican is now, for two periods of time and for another period it was a German city. Even today you can hear a lot of Germen speaking in the city.

Mariacka, Poland

I started my visit of Gdansk in the old town, in Mariacka Street. It is a beautiful street that was rebuilt after it was destroyed in Second World War. There are many cafes and restaurants with stone terraces and staiceases on the street. Also, there are shops, ofter selling antiques.

Old Town Hall in Gdansk, Poland

Walking on Gdansk old town streets, I admired the beautiful coloured tall houses built in Dutch style and Main Town Hall with its Gothic clock tower. Also in the city old center there several landmarks of Gdanks, like:

Neptune's Fountain, Poland

Neptune’s Fountain, one of Gdansk symbols, is located right in Gdansk Old Town and is often linked to numerous legends of the city. It was saved from Second World War distruction by dismantling and hiding it along with national treasure. It was restored afterwards and brought back to its place.

Artus Court, Poland

Now part of Gdansk History Museum, Artus Court was an important meeting point for merchants during the 16th and 17th centuries. It was destroyed in the Second World War and rebuilt afterwards.

Brama Żuraw, Poland

Another important landmark of the city is Zuraw, The Crane - it used to raise masts on ships and transfer cargoes, now part of Maritime Museum.

Gdańsk, Poland

Beautiful promenade by the water with cute colourful houses lined along the channel.

Plaża Stogi, Poland

We visted one of the beaches at the Baltic Sea in Gdansk. It wasn't for the swim, we just took a walk to admire the area and the Baltic Sea.

Gradowa, Poland

Then, before heading to the station, we visited Gradowa Hill, a hill where you can have a good view of the city of Gdansk.

Headed to the station and said good-bye to Gdansk for now.
