Salzburg Itinerary
Day 1
Salzburg, Austria
Salzburg is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe as it is croosed by the blue Salzach River and The Alps watch over the city from the distance. The city is known for being the birthplace of famous musician, Mozart.
Old Town Hall, Austria
Salzach River devides the city into new and old town. We started our tour of the city with the old town. The Old Town of Salzburg is now a UNESCO’s World Heritage due to its well preserved old buildings and squares. It's like a step in time walking on Salzburg's cobblesone streets and squares.
Salzburg Cathedral, Austria
Salzburg Cathedral is a beautiful 17th century cathedral with Baroque architecture and impressive interior. The three entrances of the cathedral represent the three divine virtues: faith, hope and love.
Stiftskeller St. Peter, Austria
We visited St. Peter’s Monastery with its unique cemetery. There are also catacombs on the site, which date back to antiquity.
Fortress Hohensalzburg, Austria
The Hohensalzburg Fortress is now a very well preserved castle. We took the funicular to get to it. While visiting the castle, we were astonished by the original furniture dating to 1500s.
Mirabell Palace, Austria
In the second half of the day we took an organized tour of "The Sound of Music" which took us to the film’s iconic sites around Salzburg starting with beautiful Mirabell Palace, that date back to 18th century.
Leopoldskronstraße, Austria
"The Sound of Music" tour continued with Leopoldskron Castle, Hellbrunn Castle, Nonnberg Abbey, St Gilgen and Lake Wolfgang, Wedding Church Mondsee, all being locations from the film. For us the tour was a real joy.
S'Kloane Brauhaus, Austria
We ended our tour of beautiful Salzburg with a visit to S’Kloane Brauhaus restaurant, where we enjoyed authentic Austrian cuisine.
